I've been taking a few personal weeks (more like a month) from blogging because at some point last month I realized I wasn't enjoying it anymore. It felt more like a chore than a hobby; something that I had to do, rather than something that I wanted to do. Writing a post just for the sake of doing it, often leaves you with nothing but a few boring and pointless lines; as a reader, I follow blogs because they have good content, but not necessarily a lot of it. So I decided to delete about 8 drafts from my dashboard and just walk away... I knew motivation would come to me sooner or later, so instead of forcing myself to write, I decided to use my time to get inspired by reading (blogs, magazines, books) and simply enjoy myself. And just like that, it happened, something clicked inside and I knew I was ready to start again. This is how you get going when you feel like you just can't even:

10 Quotes to Inspire the Doer in You
by Susan Hang of Zanita Studio and Le Jolie

"We’re all doers at heart but there will be times when we become uninspired, discouraged, and shot down. Even worse, we might just be totally lost, waiting for a new opportunity, or praying for a miracle. And when that happens, how do you re-discover the spark that got you started and kept you moving? We can always start by looking at those successful individuals who went before us and “made it happen” since they really paved the way for us, proving that something someone once thought was impossible could be done. Or at minimum, we can regain inspiration from them."

7 Things You Need to Give Up if You Want to Succeed
by Paula of Thirteen Thoughts

"The difference between who you are and who you want to be, is what you do. Pretty simple isn’t it? Except that it’s not. It doesn’t really matter what it is that you’re a"er: a new career, buying a house, losing weight, learning a new skill, getting healthy- “life” will always get in the way, somehow. It’s up to you to take a little responsibility for your actions."

"The minute you let your goals and dreams escape you, they can easily be lost forever. And since they can be so easy to forget and dismiss through the course of any day, you need to create daily intentional reminders to help you take action."

How to Balance Your Day Job and Your Passion Project (for Bloggers and Creatives)
by Geneva Vanderzeil of A Pair & A Spare

"‘Build your own dream, or someone else will hire you to build theirs’ is a quote that I’ve heard a few times and in many ways it resonates with me. Buttttt like most inspirational quotes, it oversimplifies the whole process. What it essentially says is that it’s either one or the other, but in reality, at least in the reality I’ve lived, the process of doing your own thing always often starts working for someone else, whether it’s for experience or just to pay the bills (the most likely answer). Because unless you’ve had a major windfall or have a lovely sugar daddy or mummy, you’re going to have to do both. But don’t worry, it’s part of the process!"

"You have to be prepared to invest your time, and lots of it, you will need passion, motivation and proactivity to keep going and sometimes it won’t be easy but there’s just something about blogging which I, myself found intoxicating. I’d work well into the night after my 9-5 had finished, I’d shoot outfits at weekends to ensure I had all the content I needed and I sacrificed holidays for two years to ensure I had enough time to attend events and collaborations. In short, you gotta love it."
