The Tony Awards are (way!) underestimated. Yes, I know that it's a Broadway thing and that everybody doesn't have access to those shows; but seriously, how amazing would it be if watching plays and musicals was as easy (and cheap) as watching movies every weekend? I personally love musicals ever since I can remember, from Chicago to The Lion King and everything in between. And one of the main reasons why I truly enjoy watching the Tonys is the musical numbers they present; the production is so much more spectacular than many other award shows, and at the end of the night is more entertained. James Corden was the host for The 70th Annual Tony Awards celebrated last Sunday in Upper West Side's Beacon Theatre and he was simply brilliant at it. That opening act was definitely one of my favorites, ever ...ever ever!

& let's not even start taking about that amazing Carpool Karaoke, Broadway edition:

But aside from James Corden's jokes and Hamilton (which is probably the closest I'll ever get to the play), one of my absolute favorite parts was the red carpet, of course. The dresses were absolutely stunning and I loved the fact that there was so much variety in terms of designs, fabrics and especially colors – finally, a red carpet where not everything is black.

Elly Blankenbuehler || Bebe Neuwirth || Jourdan Dunn in Zac Posen || Laura Benanti in Oscar De La Renta || Jane Krakowski in Michael Kors

Last time we saw Jourdan Dunn she was among the best-dressed from the Met Gala red carpet, and this time was no different; she looked like an absolute doll in that glamorous strapless silk champagne pink gown, her stunning figure with the cleavage and the hi-low skirt was definitely one of the best looks of the night.
Also, dying over award-winner Laura Benanti's gorgeous ODLR magenta and purple lace gown and Jane Krakowski's MK plunging floor length dress, both looks were absolutely #goals.

Busy Philipps  || Lucy Liu in Zuhair Murad || Uzo Aduba in Juan Carlos Obando || Nicolette Robinson || Claire Danes in Narciso Rodriguez

So. Much. Color! Seriously these red carpet dresses are among the prettiest I've seen this season. Lucy Liu was definitely on my top 3 wearing a gorgeous plunging yellow chiffon dress (with 3D printed flowers) that gave her the title of glam queen for the night, being both sweet and sexy at the same time. Another absolute favorite look was Nicolette Robinson; I'm completely in love with her navy princess skirt and the fact that she just kept it classy and simple with a white halter, studs and an effortless updo, and the hot pink lipstick was definitely the perfect touch for her look.

Liza Marshall || Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Zuhair Murad || Laura Osnes || Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton || Lupita Nyong'o in Boss

And finally an applause for Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Lupita Nyong'o for killing it at that whole Broadway's red carpet game and proving that black and white don't always have to be just black or just white. I believe that Broadway is and will always be sort of magical and over-the-top, and these ladies completely captivated the whole meaning of that, so bravo!

Who do you think was the best-dressed of the night? & what's your favorite musical / play of all time?
