Favorite Looks from the Met Gala "Manus × Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology"

Every year on the first Monday in MayThe Metropolitan Museum of Art hosts the Met Gala, an exclusive black-tie benefit to raise money for the museum's fashion department and to celebrate the opening of The Costume Institute's annual fashion exhibit. But the Met Gala is so much more than a glamorous New York fundraising event; "[it] is the Super Bowl of fashion and social events", the party of the year, fashion industry's most important red carpet... And I was there to see it. Sort of.

The Met is pretty much my favorite place in New York City (and the Anna Wintour Costume Center my favorite wing, duh!) and I'm lucky enough to live three blocks aways from it. So, of course that on Monday night I asked David "do you wanna go to see the red carpet?" (how often do you get to say that?) and off we went!

Thoughts for next year: invest on a telephoto zoom lens.

The theme for this year Met Gala and Costume Institute exhibition is Fashion in an Age of Technology; as expected, there was so much bling on the red carpet. So many beautiful looks that it's almost impossible to pick just one, these are all my favorites:

Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana || Rachel McAdams in Valentino || Nina Dobrev in Marchesa || Amber Heard in Ralph Lauren || Elle Fanning in Thakoon

I'm obsessed with Amber Heard's entire look; that nude satin halter dress looks simply amazing with her tanned skin and the hair and makeup totally on point. Also, Kate Bosworth is a regular best dressed, but I particularly love this dress and its jewel-encrusted bodice, and oh, that crown!

Uma Thurman in Tommy Hilfiger || Stella Maxwell in Topshop || Mia Wasikowska in Prada || Ivanka Trump in Ralph Lauren || Blake Lively in Burberry

Even though Blake Lively's Burberry gown has barely a little to do with this year's technology theme (I mean, who cares? She's Blake Lively), when I saw her arriving to the red carpet I thought "khaleesi meets fairy meets angel", I mean, how gorgeous is that cape?!

Claire Danes in Zac Posen || Emily Blunt in Michael Kors || Taylor Hill in Topshop || Jenna Lyons, Jennifer Konner and Lena Dunham in J.Crew || Chloë Grace Moretz in Coach

Claire Danes was not only one of the top best dressed of the night looking like Cinderella, but her dress freaking lit up! If that's not fashion in an age of technology, I don't know what it is. Also, Emily Blunt looked absolutely stunning in that sparkling navy Michael Kors fitted dress, she's definitely baby bump #goals. Another favorite was the J.Crew squad: Jenna, Jennifer and Lena (it sounds funny if you repeat it fast); not very techie but definitely very cute and super fun, you go girls!

Olivia Wilde in Michael Kors || Kristen Stewart in Chanel || Alexa Chung in Thakoon || Hailey Baldwin in Tommy Hilfiger || Brie Larson in Proenza Schouler

So. Much. Sparkle! From baby bumps to jumpsuits to straight outta the runway, these ladies know that black is the new black.

Taylor Swift in Louis Vuitton || Naomi Watts in Burberry || Poppy Delevingne in Marchesa || Kate Upton in Topshop || Jourdan Dunn in Balmain

I'm obsessed with Poppy Delevingne's look, she looks like a futuristic princess straight out of a fantasy book. And gorgeous Jourdan Dunn in her Balmain gown was definitely the prettiest glam-bot of them all.

Anna Ewers in Hugo Boss || Cindy Crawford in Balmain || Kylie Jenner in Balmain || Rita Ora in Vera Wang || Joan Smalls in Balmain

The silver ladies: slay, slay, slay, slay and slay!

Carolyn Murphy in Oscar de la Renta || Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa + IBM's Watson || Karlie Kloss in Brandon Maxwell || Rosie Huntington-Whitley in Ralph Lauren || Emily Ratajkowski in Prabal Gurung

Karolina Kurkova's "smart" fairy dress lit up reacting to to the emotion of live tweets and it was probably one of the most amazing designs we saw in the red carpet; like, really interesting. And Karlie Kloss looked simply glorious in that white gown – that Brandon Maxwell cut for the after-party...

Gigi Hadid in Tommy Hilfiger and Zayn Malik in Versace

And everybody is raving about Kim and Kanye red carpet appearance, but sorry (not sorry!), Gigi and Zayn were absolutely the sweetest and hottest couple of the night!

So, between the Balmain squad and the tech princesses, who wore it better?
